May you graze in heavens green pastures where you'll never be hungry again.

Unfortunately we did not get to Goldie in time. We rescued a very tired and broken girl when we got Goldie. She died the night she came to us despite everyones best efforts. Goldie was being used as a broodmare. Even up to the time of her rescue. You couldn't see Goldie and not cry. We all did. Goldie was so emaciated that her rectum had sunk back deep into her body making the hip bones serve as a "shelf".  Feces sat on the "shelf" causing unbelievable bloody sores on her body and tail. We had to hold Goldie up with a sling because she was so weak. It was around 30 degrees the day she came to us and a rainy, cold, muddy mess. We treated her with love and compassion. Her last few hours on earth we made sure she was surrounded by people that loved her and treated her with the respect she deserved for being the majestic creature she was. Goldie was draped with an electric blanket and given medications, I.V. Fluids, love and encouragment. By 8:30 p.m. I called everyone back to the barn (someone stayed with her at all times) so we could lay her on some comforters to let her go to heaven's green pastures. It was a hard thing to lose Goldie. The hardest thing is to not be able to understand this kind of neglect.

WE WANT TO GIVE A VERY SPECIAL THANKS TO DR. DON ROWAN FROM THE BALDWYN VETERINARY HOSPITAL OF 1051 RIPLEY ROAD BALDWYN MS (662)365-8605 FOR COMING TO GOLDIE'S RESCUE WITH I.V.FLUIDS AND OTHER MEDICATIONS AFTER HOURS ON A SATURDAY AND HE  NEVER SENT A BILL.
