Pippi
in the pasture where she was found starving to death.  Notice how ragged and short her mane is.  This is the result of her reaching through a barbed wire fence to reach green grass on the other side.

In a little less than a month, Pippi has filled out and is well on her way to a full recovery.  She was originally named Stormy Sky, but her new name is Pippi Longstocking.  When a horse is emaciated like Pippi was, it is a very delicate process to bring them back to health.  If you feed them too much, too soon, you can put their weakened system into shock and kill them.  If done properly, the horse will regain the weight from the bottom up.  The spine is the last part that fills out.  Pippi is getting there!
